Official Mar Elias Hirbawi Kufiya / Keffiyeh - Palestinian Scarf
***NOTE: 14th September 2024***
Due to soaring demand of the Hirbawi Kufiyas globally, and please be advised there is a significant lead time for a Hirbawi Kufiya from us. This lead time applies across all Hirbawi distributors globally, the production output from the Hirbawi Factory is rotated amongst the authorised distributors to ensure fair distribution globally, the exception to this is from Hirbawi directly, as they are the sole manufacturer of the kufiyas in Palestine. Again, we are an authorised distributor, and have been for over 3 years, we are not the manufacturer. Pre-Order numbers will be provided to the factory to manufacture, once the kufiya allocated to your order lands with us in Belfast - we will dispatch accordingly with fully tracked shipping.

Mar Elias (دير مار إلياس) is a monastery south of Jerusalem built in the 6th century. The ancient paintings in the interior were the inspiration for this blue and yellow kufiya pattern. According to legend, it was built on the spot where the prophet Elijah rested during his escape from the tyranny of Queen Jezebel.
The traditional Palestinian scarf is known as Kufiya, Keffiyeh or Hatta. Unfortunately, the local manufacturing of the symbol of the Palestinian struggle for freedom is vanishing as most Kufiyas sold around the world and even in Palestine are made in China or India. Today, only one factory remains in Palestine: The Hirbawi family in Hebron continues to weave the only original Kufiya made in Palestine.
Abuwear.com has now joined kufiya.org's effort to save Palestine's last kufiyas production factory. By trading the Hirbawi Kufiyas, our aim is to reverse the current trend and revive the local traditional production of the Palestinian scarves.
